What a page here loads

Two things on a page come from somewhere other than this site, and both are visible to you. The first is the GetYourGuide booking widgets, which show live availability and bookable dates. They load from GetYourGuide inside an iframe, they set their own cookies when they run, and they are also the mechanism by which a booking is attributed to this site. The second is the web fonts, which come from a font service.

Nothing else is embedded. No advertising network, no social widgets, no tracking pixels, no session recording, no heat maps, and no analytics product following you from page to page. This site runs no analytics of its own at all.

The booking widgets

When a widget loads, or when you follow a booking link, GetYourGuide receives a partner identifier saying the visit came from here. That is the mechanism behind the commission described on the disclosure page. What comes back to me is totals rather than people: how many bookings, not who made them. Your name, your email address and your payment details never reach this site, and I could not look them up if I wanted to.

What GetYourGuide does with the data its own widget collects is governed by GetYourGuide’s privacy policy, not by this one. I am not a party to it and cannot answer for it.

Cookies, and refusing them

This site sets no cookies of its own. The only cookies in play come from the GetYourGuide widgets and from the font service. Every browser can block or delete third-party cookies, usually in the privacy section of its settings. Blocking them stops the booking widgets from loading, in which case these pages still read perfectly well and you can search for the same walks on GetYourGuide directly. Nothing else here needs a cookie to work.

Server logs

The host that serves these pages keeps ordinary access logs for a short period: the page requested, the time, the browser type, the IP address. Every web server does. They exist to keep the site working, not to build a profile of you.

Other languages

This site is published in English and in translated copies in other languages. The translated pages are plain files served from the same host as this one. They load the same two outside things and nothing extra.

Children

This is a visitor guide with nothing to sign up to, so it neither seeks nor knowingly holds information about anybody, of any age. Two of the walks it describes have age limits of their own, which is a different matter and is covered on the page about taking children along.
